Further to our recent sites and Cranbrook and Exmouth, Taylor Wimpey have awarded us with the Carpentry package at Hele Park in Newton Abbot. This new addition to our order book provides continuation for our workforce and also allows us to grow this in demand trade for our existing customer base.
At Hele Park home owners can find a stylish new home at this peaceful location perfectly positioned between the wilds of Dartmoor and the ever-popular South Devon holiday coast. It is an important regional hub – a traditional market town on the main railway line, sitting astride the A380 Exeter – Dartmouth road.

On Friday, MJS Group Operations Director, Alan Knowles, hosted a table at one of the ‘Phil Dollman Testimonial events’. This time it was the ‘Black Tie Boxing’ at Sandy Park. We welcomed guest from across our sites to enjoy what was a fun-filled and enjoyable evening for everyone who attended. Being a Platinum sponsor for Phil is a great privilege and something we knew we wanted to do as soon as Phil asked us. It is especially close to us with Phil being the head coach at Sidmouth RFC where we have extremely close links and continue to support the club with their clubhouse facilities, kit and events.
We have been awarded the next phase at Galileo – Cranbrook for Persimmon Homes. We have been on this site for over 5 years and continues to provide a consistent workload for the company across three trades, week-in week-out.
The Cranbrook project is spread over 10 years with various house builders involved during the build. We have been fortunate enough to be have been with it since the outset with all of the builders in one form or another during the last 5 years.
Having operatives ‘on the books’ give us diversity and opens other doors to undertake work outside of our normal site remit. Last week we were asked to do something a little different from our norm. We were asked to enclose a small garden in Exeter with feather edge board. We bolted down the post bases to the substrate, erected each post and clad in the feather edge board. The client was extremely happy with the result ‘I think it looks great and really finished off my garden, thank you to MJS Group for the work they have done’.
Our painting and tiling divisions have been awarded a new site in Cornwall for Persimmon Homes. This extends our working area to Cornwall with the painting and also brings us back into the area with our tilers having recently finished two sites in Truro. We are continuing to add new sites, projects and workload month on month which has lead us to require more labour across our patch. This week we received some excellent feedback from a Home Owner in Yeovil…’I just want to say and for you to pass on how impressed I have been with M J Stevens who have been doing my re tiling work in our main bathroom yesterday and finished off today, turned up on time, and if they were going to be late I was told, The work that has been carried out is to a very high standard too. Very professional service and we are very pleased.’ This is testament to the hard work and caring attitude of our staff. This is fantastic to see and well done to everyone in our customer care department.
2019 is off to a flying start with 3 new contracts awarded in the first week back. A multi trade contract for Persimmon Homes South West in Exeter is a fantastic way for us to start the year. A very loyal customer rewarding us with work on our doorstep. We are delighted to be starting at Ashworth Place in Exeter. This new site give us further continuity and increased work load in and around Exeter.

With 2018 coming to a close, we are still being told good news. This time we have help Spitfire Bespoke Homes achieve Gold for the Best Development in the UK.

Our scope of work in North Devon continues to grow with the latest addition being a contract with Newland Homes in Barnstaple. Barbican Walk is a select development of 3 and 4 bedroom houses, a scheme we are very excited to be working on and look forward to forging a new relationship with Newland.
